Priscilla Warren Roberts, a world-renowned realist artist, longtime Wiltonian and animal lover who was outspoken about the rights of renters to own pets, died Sunday at her home in Georgetown. She was 85 and previously lived in Wilton for 35 years.

Born in Glen Ridge, N.J., on June 13, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Charles Asaph and Mary Beth Roberts. Encouraged by her mother, she decreed at an early age that she was going to be an artist. She studied at Radcliffe College for a year before moving to the Art Students League and National Academy of Design, from 1939 to 1943. She also studied at Yale University's School of Art.
